The new bridge at Silverstone Circuit provides a convenient covered walkway to bridge the gap between the new trackside hotel and the international conference and exhibition centre. Overlooking the Hamilton Straight start-finish line, the 80m span bridge features state of the art digital screens aimed at stimulating corporate advertising bookings.

The bridge was designed and built by J&D Pierce involving an asymmetric warran truss to offset footfall induced vibrations, tubular framing and spider fixings to accommodate faceted glass facades, and smart temporary works involving pretensioned shores and piles to avoid track constraints. With cladding and glass pre-installed, the bridge was erected in three module sections from one-side access on the racetrack in a tight time-window between race practice sessions.

Silverstone Circuit Pedestrian Bridge – Highly Commended in the sector category for ‘Leisure’.
