Plate Profiling

Plate Profiling

We utilise our V304 & V310 plate profiling machines for strip cutting and cutting to length of materials to make up our plate girder carcasses. The V304 is a plasma & gas profiler, whereas the V310 is plasma only but has drilling capabilities.

Oxy & Plasma Profiling

Managed and operated with over 35 fully trained operatives, we provide full pre and post fabrication shotblasting facilities to suit client requirements

Shotblasting & Painting

Shotblasting & Painting

We have a facility over 70,000 sq. ft to enable us to provide a full range of protective coatings, ranging from primer through to intumescent paint to provide durability and fire protection.

Managed and operated with over 35 fully trained operatives, we provide full pre and post fabrication shotblasting facilities to suit client requirements

Cutting

Cutting

STRUBEAM can provide an in-house saw cutting service using PC based automated band saws and carbide saw cutting, enabling us to deliver a fast and accurate service to meet your requirements.

We can also offer bevelled, bundle, repetition, square and mitre cutting services.

Drilling

Drilling

As the drilling applications for structural steel are quite varied, STRUBEAM operates with the most advanced CNC drill line system in the world today to provide the most productive and cost-effective solution for your application.

Fabrication

Fabrication

In addition to supplying our customers with plate girder carcasses, STRUBEAM can offer a full fabrication service. With our highly skilled fabricators and welders, we can fabricate to a very high quality on even the most complex of projects.

Cambering

Cambering

How is a beam cambered?

STRUBEAM have adopted two methods of producing camber into a beam for deflection.

One method is to nest the camber into the profile when strip cutting the web up to 40mm when using our 26m CNC controlled 5 head oxy acetylene with integrated plasma profiling bed capable of multi strip cuts up to a thickness of 200mm. The camber is then formed as part of the sub arc welding process.

The other method is cold cambering. This is the most common method of inducing camber on the beam. This is done by placing the beam in a press that is about 22’ to 24’ long, with two hydraulic rams spaced at the third points. The rams push the stress in the beam past the yield point, which produces a permanent strain. This third-point loading produces a reasonably uniform camber curve that is ideal in counteracting the effect of uniform loading.

Welding

Welding

The beam is fed into the machine and both sides of the beam are welded simultaneously.

When double “T” beams are being manufactured, once the first flange has been welded, the beam is flipped over and fed back into the unit once again.

The machine is capable of welding both symmetrical and non-symmetrical beams without the need for tacking, as well as box girders (pre-tacked).

A flange post-deformation device mounted at the machine exit enables the machine to compensate for any flange deformation resulting from the welding process.

The device is easily adjustable to handle various flange dimensions and a variety of different deformable thickness up to a maximum of 50mm at maximum width.

The welding line can be equipped with a control PLC, user interface with touch-screen panel and a special connector to connect to an Ethernet network.

Our Products

Cellular Beams

Cellular beams

As with plate girders, we can provide the design, production and delivery of cellular plate girders in varying sizes up to 2.7m deep to suit client requirements, along with full fabrication including the production of fittings on our fully automated CNC controlled Voortman twin bed profiling and drilling machine.

Plate girders

Here at STRUBEAM, we can provide the design, production and delivery of plate girders in varying sizes up to 2.7m deep to suit client requirements.

Bespoke Fabrications

Bespoke Fabrications

Our skilled staff mean we can offer clients bespoke production and fabrication of fittings and connections to client specifications.

Large and high fabrication bay with EOT cranes up to 40T allow the assembly of complicated and expansive members, and a 3D structure can be fully assembled to ensure site fit up and then dismantled to size for transport requirements.

In addition to the above, we also have heavy lifting capacities in the adjacent bay with four 50T ETO cranes capable of tandem lifts.

Bridgework, Plunge Columns , Trusses and Carousels are also within our scope of works.

Our Machinery

Voortman 304

Cutting

This is a plasma gas profile cutting machine which has a 24m long bed suitable for cutting long plates up to 19m. It can plasma cut up to 80mm thick and gas up to 200mm thick, with four gas heads and one plasma torch.

Voortman 310

Cutting

This is a plasma cutting machine which has a bed suitable for cutting & drilling plates up to 9m x 3m. It can plasma cut up to 80mm thick. It also has drilling, countersinking and tapping capabilities. This machine is mainly utilized for fittings.

2x T&I Machines

Beam welding

One of our T&I machines is capable of manufacturing beams 2700mm x 1200mm wide. Our other one can manufacture beams 2500mm x 1000mm wide. The T&I machines have the capability of 100mm flanges and 50mm webs, as well as welding in cambers of up to 40mm.

VOORTMAN V630

Saw & Drill Line

The V630 has 3 independent drilling heads and a horizontal mitre band sawing machine. The machine can drill both flanges and the web at the same time, significantly reducing labour hours and operating costs during production. Each drilling unit has its own 5-piece automatic toolchanger for carbide tipped drilling, HSS drilling, thread-tapping, countersinking, layout marking, or centerpoint marking all on one process list. It is ideal as a back-to-back saw/drill line.

Voortman VSB2500

Blasting Machine

The VSB2500 is used for pre-blasting steel plates and sections prior to fabrication works. It ensures a quality finish to allow for blemish free welding operations. We can blast plates 20m long X 2.5m wide.

Voortman V2000-4000

Cambering Machine

This machine is used for correcting, or adding additional camber to carcass beams.
