Project Overview

Henley Gate Bridge is a single-span composite plate girder structure spanning the East Suffolk Rail Line, providing access to the new Henley Gate housing development. Constructed from weathering grade steel, the bridge meets fatigue category F56 under PD6705-2:2010+A1:2013 and was delivered to Execution Class 3 in accordance with BS EN 1090-2:2018. J&D Pierce were contracted to fabricate the main girders, including stiffeners, bearing taper plates, and shear studs. Paired girder units were assembled and fully trial-fitted to verify all connections, with all steelwork blast-cleaned post-fabrication at our Strubeam facility in East Kilbride. The four girders were formed into three part-length units, resulting in six paired assemblies, all completed on schedule for installation during the Christmas rail possession.
