Strubeam is an independent business unit of J&D Pierce (Contracts) Ltd, launched in 2016 to serve the UK constructional steelwork market with high-quality, specialist structural solutions. The business is focused on delivering bespoke, project-specific solutions, manufactured to exacting standards and tailored to meet complex structural and programme requirements. Strubeam works closely with clients, engineers, and project teams to ensure reliability, efficiency, and consistency from design support through to fabrication and delivery.
By operating as a dedicated unit within J&D Pierce, Strubeam provides the flexibility and responsiveness of a specialist supplier while maintaining the quality, capacity, and assurance of one of the UK’s leading structural steelwork contractors. From the outset, we committed to developing and launching bespoke design software to Steel Construction Institute (SCI) P355 standards for composite beams with large web openings. Achieving SCI “Assessed” status in 2018 validates our dedication to the steelwork industry. Our highly experienced team enables us to design, procure, manufacture, fabricate, paint, and deliver Execution Class 4 products to the highest standard. We are equally committed to customer care, clear communication, and efficient project management to deliver every work package with excellence.
Precision Beam Fabrication
STRUBEAM is a fabrication process for long-span, deep, or heavily loaded beams. Unlike standard rolled sections, plate girders can be designed to meet specific service requirements—crucial when working within defined structural depth zones or achieving shallower zones for building advantages. Using state-of-the-art submerged arc welding on CNC-controlled semi-automatic lines, we fabricate girders up to 2.7m deep and transportable lengths, ensuring excellent dimensional control and weld quality. Our purpose-built facility, equipped with multiple EOT cranes, enables smooth flow from plate receipt to girder dispatch.
Flexible Design Solutions
Girders are available as plain carcasses or fully fabricated to client drawings, with options for fittings, surface preparation, painting, galvanising, or intumescent fire protection. Since service penetrations are often required in deeper beams, our STRUBEAM software allows designers to engineer openings in regular or irregular patterns and sizes, plain or stiffened, to suit project needs.
